At-work experiences in Imagining Your Future

Our pilot program at Herndon High School is for students in grades 10-12 who benefit from additional guidance, access and support while experiencing the workplace.

Students will…

  • Work with a trained mentor over the course of an entire year

  • The mentor will listen and guide them in personal and professional development

  • Receive guidance in assessing and planning for postsecondary options (work, trades, military, college)

  • Explore options for their future by engaging in a variety of “at work” experiences, including informational interviews, shadow days, networking opportunities, employer panels, and internships

  • Interact in engaging activities with their peers!

Calling Northern Virginia employers!

Students are looking for employers to offer a variety of at-work experiences!

The experiences include workshops and career panels at Herndon High School, filed trips, shadowing and internships. Students are also looking for employers who are interested in offering students informational interviews.

Employers can be large or small, nonprofit, government or not-profit, white collar or trades. Experiences can be offered at any time of year!
